Today at Hack Bellingham! we explored accelerometers with the Arduino. Charlie brought his work-in-progress RepRap, complete with parts printed from a previous RepRap, while Jen made some serous progress putting her Lappy386 back together. We were able to use the serial monitor in the Arduino IDE to get a steady data feed from the X and Y axis of the accelerometer, and discussed ways to smooth out jitter using a scrolling average. Perhaps next week we will talk about using a 3-axis accelerometer to derive vectors!
